PETALING JAYA: It is up to the Agong to decide who will be the next prime minister of Malaysia, defeated Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today.
He said this was because no single party had achieved a simple majority.
The former prime minister said his coalition had accepted defeat at the 14th General Election and the parliamentary process must be respected.
"It is the king's decision. BN will accept whatever decision the king makes. We trust the Agong to make the right decision. We at Barisan Nasional are grateful for the opportunity to lead the government."
Najib was accompanied by his deputy Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, wanita chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and Puteri chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
