SHAH ALAM: Seven Klang Municipal Council (MPK) enforcement officers were detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe of RM1,000 from an unlicensed cybercafe operator in Klang.
According to an MACC source, all the men, aged 31 to 42 years, were detained at the Klang branch MACC office at 1.45pm today.
The source said one of the suspects, however, was released on MACC bail after his statement was recorded today.
According to the source, on Oct 21 last year, the MPK enforcement officers had carried out a licence inspection at the cybercafe and found that the premises did not have an entertainment licence.
“However, the MPK enforcement officers had asked for and took RM1,000 from the cyber cafe operator so that no legal action would be taken against the premises,” the source said.
