The Borneo Post reported the former Kota Belud MP, who has not been fielded since 2008, as saying it was, however, up to the top leadership in Barisan Nasional to make the final decision on him contesting.

“I am willing to go back to active politics but that is up to the top leadership.

“In the event I am asked to contest either in the parliamentary or state seat, I would accept,” Pandikar was quoted as having told reporters yesterday.

Pandikar said he was physically and mentally prepared for the battle at the ballot box this time, but did not reveal which would be his preferred seat.

When asked whether there had been any indication as to where he would be fielded, Pandikar was quoted as saying: “To be honest with you, there is no such indication.”

It was reported that Pandikar might take over Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak’s state seat in Usukan.

Last May, Pandikar had said he was most suited to return to politics due to his nine-year stint as Parliamentary Speaker, which gave him enough experience to address various issues with the public.
