Referees from Mexico and Iran will take charge of the first knock-out games of the World Cup, governing body FIFA said Thursday.

Mexican referee Cesar Ramos will take charge of Uruguay v Portugal in Sochi while the meeting between France and Argentina in Kazan will be refereed by Iranian official Alireza Faghani. Both matches are on Saturday to open the round of 16. Ramos has already officiated Brazil v Switzerland and Colombia v Poland at these finals. Faghani took charge of Germany's group stage defeat to Mexico.
