PETALING JAYA: Just three hours since it was created, an online petition to the Rulers of Malaysia to endorse Pakatan Harapan government has received more than 220,000 signatures.

The petition initiated by lawyer Datuk Brian Jit Singh was addressed to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"Due to the resounding victory by Pakatan Harapan, the clear majority voice of the Rakyat and the need to promptly declare a Government for Malaysia for continued management of the Country without interruption, we pray for the only right action to be carried out by our Rulers," he said in his message to get the support in Malaysians for his petition.

The palace this morning confirmed that there would not be an inauguration ceremony as expected.

Defeated Barisan National chairman Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak announced that the Agong would be choosing the prime minister as no parties had won simple majority.

In a later development, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced that the declaration of the seventh prime minister of Malaysia needs to be expedited by 5pm today as there is no government of Malaysia now.

He also confirmed that Pakatan Harapan has more than 135 parliamentary seats, and a support of parliament members is required to be announced as the prime minister.
