Brazil midfielder Paulinho has moved back to Guangzhou Evergrande on loan after just one year at Barcelona, the Chinese Super League club announced on their website Sunday. Barcelona later confirmed the transfer in a statement on their website. It said the two clubs had reached an agreement for a season-long loan with an option to buy.
Catalan media reported Sunday that an eventual purchase would be compulsory and the fee would be around 50 million euros (58 million dollars).
They also speculated that Paulinho would eventually sign for four seasons, earning around 14 million euros a season. Barcelona signed the former Tottenham midfielder for 40 million euros last season, paying Guangzhou Evergrande his release clause in full. He scored nine goals in 49 appearances for the club.
