PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak's children have posted the remainder of his bail at the registrar of the Kuala Lumpur High Court today.
Nooryana Najwa Najib (pix) and Datuk Noorashman were at the court about 10.04am to post the remaining RM500,000 of the RM1 million bail for their father.
Najib faces three counts of criminal breach of trust and one abuse of power charge, in regards to the RM42 million found in his account, purportedly from SRC International.
On Wednesday, Najib claimed trial to three counts of criminal breach of trust and another charge of abuse of power involving RM42 million linked to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The argument for bail took about an hour before it was fixed at RM1 million by High Court judge Datuk Mohd Sofian Abd Razak.
Attorney-General Tommy Thomas proposed for bail to be set at RM4 million in cash, to which Najib's lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah objected, saying that it was too high an amount.
Muhammad Shafee said that his client was not a flight risk and asked for a bail of between RM500,000 and RM800,000 instead.
The bail was eventually set at RM1 million with two sureties. The court also agreed for the bail payment to be in two installments.
