Marcelo will not start at left-back in Brazil's last-16 World Cup clash against Mexico, coach Tite confirmed on Sunday. Marcelo was forced off after just nine minutes of Brazil's final group match against Serbia on Wednesday and was later diagnosed with back spasms.
He has returned to training but the decision has been made to keep Filipe Luis, who replaced him against Serbia, in the line-up for the match in Samara on Monday. "We have confirmed the team, the team that finished the match," Tite told his pre-match news conference. "So Filipe Luis [plays]."
