JAKARTA: Some 55 officials and athletes of the Malaysian Asian Games contingent were among the 500 Malaysian Muslims in Indonesia who gathered at the Embassy of Malaysia today to celebrate Aidiladha.
"The embassy is very happy to have Malaysian athletes participating in the Asian Games join us in the Aidiladha celebration," said Deputy Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Zamshari Shaharan at the event. The 2018 Asian Games opened in Jakarta-Palembang on Aug 18 and will go on until Sept 2.
The athletes and officials were led by the Malaysian chef de mission for the 2018 Asian Games, Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi.
The other guests comprised the staff of the mission and their families, students and Malaysians working or residing in Jakarta.
All the guests performed the Aidiladha prayers led by the Attache for Religion at the embassy, Muhammad Naqzrul Azraf Mhd Nazaudin, who also delivered the sermon.
Zamshari and some of the guests also helped with the sacrificial slaughter of five cows and 12 goats at the event.
