Berita Harian reported MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Shamsun Baharin Mohd Jamil as saying Syed Saddiq has a responsibility to hand over any information on corruption involving party leaders so that the commission may take action.

Shamsun reportedly told the media yesterday that the MACC is not omniscient and need public assistance in its investigations.

“We don't know everything that's going on because we have limited personnel. People think we are like Superman, who knows everything. But we need input from the public in order to take action,” he was quoted as saying.

Last week Syed Saddiq alleged he was offered RM5 million to leave the country and denounce PPBM leaders.

He also alleged other former PPBM leaders were offered bribes, prompting Datuk Hamidah Osman to lodge a report against him.

Shamsun added that Syed Saddiq will be granted whistleblower protection status provided he does not share what he knows with a third party.
