Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina and missionary schools throughout the country have received almost RM1 billion in allocations since 2008. – The Malaysian Insider file pic, January 3, 2016. The federal government had allocated almost RM1 billion in maintenance allocations to Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) and missionary schools throughout the country from 2008 to last year, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Wee Ka Siong.

From the total, he said SJKC received RM515 million while missionary schools were allocated RM465 million.

Wee said all allocations were disbursed directly to fund maintenance work of the schools based on applications submitted to the School Management Board (LPS).

"These included schools in Sabah because the government has never marginalised Sabah from receiving this allocation (maintenance)," he said when speaking at the 2015 Maintenance Allocation Cheque Presentation to SJKC, missionary schools and Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, today. – Bernama, January 3, 2016.
