Among the personalities from top 20 companies selected based on their outstanding leadership in corporate governance practice, Nazir tops the criterion of a CEO that is visionary, dynamic, demonstrates strong entrepreneurship skills and has driven the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda well throughout the year for CIMB Group.
Apart from that, the governing body also observed that he had demonstrated direct influence in driving the Group globally, based on the company financial performance as well as his skill and in-depth knowledge in responding to questions by minority shareholders at the company’s Annual General Meetings.

Along with the win, CIMB Group has also won the Corporate Governance Transparency Award, Overall Corporate Governance Award and Best Environment, Social and Governance Award.
The winners were determined based on the ASEAN CG scorecard methodology. This is a standardised scorecard adopted by other ASEAN countries. This scorecard methodology showcases well-governed companies within the ASEAN region, improving their visibility and investability.
