‘God’ charged over hoax bomb call to Sri Pentas

PETALING JAYA: A man, who claimed to be God, was charged at the magistrate's court today over a false call claiming there was a bomb at Sri Pentas Bandar Utama.

Nur Azhan Kamaludin, 46, pleaded not guilty to the charge of making criminal threats by calling Petaling Jaya police control centre and saying he had placed a bomb in Sri Pentas TV3.

The unemployed man claimed he was "God" was investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code that carries a maximum of two-year jail sentence.

He admitted to having mental problems for the last 20 years and at the time of the incident he took sleeping pills but was unable to sleep.

"I have heart issues and mental problems. When the incident happened I took sleeping pills but I could not sleep," he told the court.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Syafiq Hasim did not offer bail but left it to the court's discretion.

"The accused has mental problems and the report for his mental health has been given to the court. During the investigation he claimed to be God, I ask that he should be referred to a mental hospital," he said.

The court did not allow bail and the accused will be sent to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Tanjung Rambutan, Perak for psychiatric evaluation.

Magistrate Salamiah Salleh then set Oct 4 for health reports to be prepared.

A bomb disposal unit from the Selangor police headquarters was dispatched to the scene but no suspicious objects were found.
