PETALING JAYA: Former Attorney General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali has been appointed an Umno supreme council member, said party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In a statement released today, Ahmad Zahid confirmed the appointments of 11 Supreme Council members including Mohamed Apandi.
The others are Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib, Datuk Johan Abdul Aziz, Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun, Wanita Umno vice-chief Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim, Umno Youth vice-chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan, and Puteri Umno vice-chief Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi.
Ahmad Zahid also announced the appointment of Tan Sri Annuar Musa as secretary-general, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor as Treasurer, Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah as Information chief, and Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan as Works Secretary.
He said the new appointments serve as the first step in renewing Umno as it moves forward in the national political arena.
"I am committed to create and uphold the nation's interests with the new leadership of Umno in line with the Malaysian Constitution and Umno's Charter."
