SIX people are dead and 150 injured after a packed passenger train crashed into a freight engine.
The Awam Express smashed into a freight train near the city of Multan, in Punjab Province, Pakistan, in the early hours of Thursday.
The crash reportedly happened after the freight train stopped to recover the body of a man it had run over.
The Awam Express was on its way from Peshawar to Karachi – the largest city in Pakistan – when it hit the freight train near Bucch Railway Station in the Sher Shah area.
Authorities have declared emergencies at Multan's Nishtar Medical Hospital and Shahbaz Sharif Hospital.
The public is being asked to donate blood as medics scramble to deal with the tragedy.
