Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri stars in ‘Badang.KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 — Malaysian superhero film Badang, starring cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Aliff Syukri, has only collected RM68,816.17 even after seven days of screening.
The dismal figures released on the National Film Development Corporation’s (Finas) website on Thursday, comes amid negative reviews by both fans and critics alike and a one star rating on film database IMDB and 1.2 star rating on Facebook.
Badang, however is a significantly better performer for director Datuk Prof Madya A. Razak Mohaideen compared to his penned and directed 2017 Cinta, that only collected RM25,579.28.
Moving into its second week of screening after opening on February 15, it appears highly improbable that Badang will even come close to breaking even with its reported cost of RM2.2 million.
Badang, which also stars Fasha Sandha, Fauzi Nawawi, Azhari Zain and Douglas Lim, has been the centre of much unenviable publicity.
Much in part to Aliff’s recent claims the film was better than Marvel Studios’ Black Panther and venting on social media that his acting prowess was not being acknowledged.
Senior actor Arash Mohamad and singer and actress Adibah Noor have also have taken to their social media platforms with their views.
Over the last few days, Aliff and actress Amyza Adnan been having an exchange of words in local dailies over her remarks after she, and drama director Shahrulezad Mohammed lashed out at Aliff’s rants to be recognised for his effort.
