SanDisk’s Extreme UHS-I microSDXC card. — AFP picBARCELONA, Feb 28 — Western Digital announced its fast and furious 400GB microSD card at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, with the aim of increasing the performance of its flagship smartphones.
This latest addition to the SanDisk family, the 400GB Extreme UHS-I microSDXC card, is the world’s fastest flash memory, designed to facilitate devices that come with a microSD slot card.
According to Western Digital, their “robust mobile flash technology” will help to offer “premium experiences” on devices, whether it be through “exploring a new world in an immersive virtual reality app, or capturing 4K footage on a smartphone or drone.”
The company also says this new card is 50 percent faster than current SanDisk Extreme UHS-I microSD cards, supporting data transfer speeds of up to 160MB/S and 90MB/s. Additionally, it uses the A2 specification for speedier app launches.
A report by Cnet says that the microSD is also “shockproof, waterproof, X-ray-proof, and can operate in a wide temperature range, from a frigid 13 degrees Fahrenheit up to a burning 185 Fahrenheit.” They say that the price of the new SanDisk will be US$300 (RM1,177).
