KUALA LUMPUR: The late Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng Tien Chee was cremated today at the Xiao En crematorium in Cheras.
Earlier, Ng's family members and friends performed the religious rites at the Xiao En Memorial Park here.
Among those who paid their last respects were Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching and Damansara MP Tony Pua.
Following the cremation about 1.30pm, the urn containing the ashes will be placed at the Universal Memorial Park in Semenyih tomorrow.
In the incident at 12.40am, the Nissan X-Trail vehicle he was driving crashed into the rear of a trailer lorry at Km11.7 of the Grand Saga Highway. Ng, who had been travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Kajang, died on the spot.
The DAP assemblyman is survived by widow Loh Hwa Hong, 39 and three children – Ng Chin Wee, 17, Ng Chin Shian, 15 and Ng Chin Khai, 13.
