KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 346 notices for various offences were issued by the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Road Transport Department (RTD) to foreign drivers during the PEWA Ops, a special operation to detect foreigners driving illegally in the Klang Valley from Monday until today.

Kuala Lumpur RTD director Ismail Mohd Zawawi said 145 foreigners driving various types of vehicles were inspected in the operation that was carried out.

He said the illegal foreign drivers comprised 70 Myanmar nationals, Indonesians (23), Indians (11), Pakistanis (7), Bangladeshis (6), Nepalese (2), and others (26).

"Among the offences committed were not having driving licence and expiry of road tax. The motorcycles and vehicles driven by them will be seized," he told reporters after participating in the PEW operation in Jalan Ampang, here today.

He said the department has given registered drivers a grace period of three months to reclaim their vehicles before further action would be taken.
