AMPANG, Oct 7 (MySinchew) -- Gabungan NGO-NGO Malaysia chairman Datuk Jamal Md Yunos announced that a gathering of 1,000 people would be held at Spectrum Shopping Mall in Ampang on October 18 to protest against the poor management of the Selangor state government.
Jamal initially called for a rally in Kajang this Saturday but later changed to Spectrum Shopping Mall.
Jamal was at Subang Jaya Police District Headquarters this afternoon in the company of his lawyer and several supporters. At the advice of the police, he agreed to postpone the rally by one week because under the Peaceful Assembly Act, the organizers must notify the police ten days ahead of the event.
He subsequently applied for the permit with the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council and officially notified the police.
Jamal said the proposed rally would be called "Selamatkan Negeri Selangor Daripada Kerajaan Cacar Marba" and the organizers would invite Umno, PAS, Chinese and Indian NGOs and members of the public to take part in the rally.
