High Court enhances DBKL enforcement personnel's sentence for cheating trader

Judicial commissioner Datuk Mohamad Shariff Abu Samah enhanced P. Sugumaran's jail term from six months to two years and fine from RM5,000 to RM8,000 in default 12 months imprisonment.

The appellant, 46, was sentenced by the Sessions Court on Jan 6, 2015 for misleading M. Sathivelu into believing that he could obtain approval for him for six slots at a night bazaar in Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Masjid India.

His action induced the victim to deposit RM600 and RM1,200 into his account in two transactions at AmBank branch in Jalan Pudu, at 11.34am on May 7, 2008 and 1.42am on May 29, 2008.
