Dragons cruise to ABL Finals for second year

KUALA LUMPUR: Westports Malaysia Dragons easily reached the Asean Basketball League (ABL) Finals for the second straight year.

They completed the job by beating Saigon Heat 89-76 in Game 2 at the CIS Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City for a 2-0 win in the three-game playoffs.

In Game 1 at the Maba Stadium in Kuala Lumpur last week, the Dragons were 84-68 winners.

Reginald Johnson led the scoring for the Dragons with 32 points and 13 rebounds while Calvin Godfrey contributed 26 points and 12 rebounds.

For the Heat, Lenny Daniel top-scored with 27 points while David Arnold added 16 points.

In the other playoff, Singapore Slingers levelled the series 1-1 after whipping defending champions HiTech Bangkok City 95-66 in Bangkok. Wong Wei Long starred for the Slingers with 29 points.
