Locals and visitors to the Belgian capital will have many options for joining in the celebrations in honor of this futuristic monument.

Close to 42 million people visited the first major international exhibition to take place after WWII, which led to the construction of the Atomium. The event had a durable impact on the collective psyche of the Belgian nation, and also marked the history of world fairs with its futuristic and scientific exhibits. The spirit of this magical moment will be the theme of three exhibitions collectively entitled "Galaxy 58." With videos, photos, objects and costumes from the time, "People of 58" will focus on the men and women who prepared the 1958 World's Fair (until January 20, 2019). At the Brussels Design Museum (ADAM), "Graphic 58" will explore the forms colors and textures that defined the graphic world of this historic world's fair (until January 2019). Also at the ADAM, "Podium 58" examines the looks of the visitors to the 1958 event who strolled its alleyways dressed in their Sunday best. In celebration of the Atomium and for the duration of 2018, an entrance ticket to the futuristic monument designed by engineer André Waterkeyn will also offer free access to the neighboring Brussels Design Museum.

Collectors and fans of 20th century antiques will gather at the foot of the Atomium on April 28 and 29 for an antiques fair with 120 stands presenting a wide variety of objects and souvenirs linked to the Brussels monument.

In honour of the anniversary, the Interclassics Brussels vintage car fair will be presenting a unique collection of cars from 1958, from November 16 to 18, in collaboration with the Belgian Classic Car Federation (FBVA).

What better way to celebrate the Atomium's 60th birthday than with a beer from the time. Christened Flo 58, the vintage recipe brewed by the Flobecq brewery offers a unique opportunity to savor a taste of the late 1950s. Flo 58 will only be available in Belgium and via the brewer's website.
